Kincaid for Congress
Democrat · Washington's 1st District
A Democrat focused on public safety, affordability, and real accountability not politics as usual.
Learn More & Get InvolvedI am running for Congress in Washington's 1st District because too many leaders are ignoring the real problems that people face every day. Voters want practical solutions not ideology, not slogans, and not politics as usual.
I am a Democrat. In this election I will be challenging fellow Democrat Representative Suzan DelBene, who has held this seat for more than 13 years. This is not a campaign against the Democratic Party it is a campaign to help it find its way back to the people it is supposed to represent.
Platform
What I Stand For
Public Safety
Safer communities, real accountability for repeat offenders, and meaningful action to prevent crime before it happens.
Affordable Living
Lower costs, fair taxes, and economic policies that work for working families including eliminating federal income tax for those earning $61,000 or less.
Healthcare Reform
A realistic, step by step plan to expand coverage without disrupting the care people already have. Reform that starts with honesty about what is achievable.
Accountability in Government
Holding elected leaders responsible for real, measurable results.
Protecting Women and Children
Clear, common sense policies that put the safety, privacy, and fairness of women and girls first without apology. Common sense is not transphobic.
Homelessness & Mental Health
Current policies are not working. We need treatment for addiction, proper care for severe mental illness, and accountability with measurable results.
Why This Campaign
Why Challenge a Member of My Own Party?
```There are two reasons one is Representative DelBene herself, and the other is the direction of the Democratic Party as a whole. Both have been wrong on key issues , issues that contributed directly to our party's devastating loss in the last election. That loss is why Donald Trump is president again.
Washington State ranks among the worst states in the nation for retirees, largely due to the cost of living. But affordability is unlikely to be a personal concern for Representative DelBene. According to Quiver Quantitative, her net worth has more than doubled during her time in office from $60 million to $126.34 million. Among the ten wealthiest members of Congress, she currently ranks eighth.
I am not criticizing anyone simply for being wealthy. The point is larger and more troubling. Congress no longer reflects the American people. It does not resemble the government “of the people, by the people, for the people” that Abraham Lincoln envisioned.
If the Democratic Party does not change course, Vice President J.D. Vance could be our next president. We may survive this second Trump term. A Vance presidency is a different matter entirely. The damage could last generations. As the saying goes. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The Democratic Party has not learned. Instead, it has doubled down on the very positions that eroded the trust of everyday voters .That has to stop.
```The Contrast
DelBene's Record vs. My Approach
The following provides a fact-based overview of Representative DelBene's voting record and policy positions, alongside how my approach would differ.
```| Issue | DelBene's Record | Kincaid's Position |
|---|---|---|
| Housing & Affordability | Has supported federal housing assistance programs but has not introduced major legislation directly aimed at reducing home prices in Washington. | Federal incentives for affordable housing construction in high cost states, plus no federal income tax for Americans earning $61,000 or less to help working families. |
| Tax Policy | Voted for the 2021 Build Back Better package, which included tax increases on high-income earners but did not lower the burden for middle class families in high cost areas. | Real Tax Reform and Simplification Act. Eliminating federal income tax for working Americans earning $61,000 or less. |
| Healthcare | Supports the Affordable Care Act and a public option, but not Medicare for All. | Universal Healthcare Pilot Program — a real world, data driven test before any nationwide rollout. |
| Public Safety | Has voted for gun safety measures but has not introduced legislation targeting the theft of handguns most commonly used in everyday street crime. | Secure Storage Laws to prevent theft of firearms. Addressing the root cause of guns entering criminal activity. |
| Women's Sports | Voted against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. | Support legislation ensuring that women's athletic competitions are limited to biological females. Fairness in sports is non-negotiable. |
```Women's Safety & Fairness Agenda
The Issue of Fairness in Women's Sports
```One of the clearest examples of the Democratic Party losing touch with ordinary Americans is its continued support for allowing biological males to compete in women's sports. Most Americans including most Democrats oppose this policy. It is unfair. It defies common sense. And it is simply wrong.
I have seen the courage of female athletes who have spoken out and refused to compete under these conditions. I have met Democratic voters who know this is wrong but are afraid to say so publicly. To them, I say: your silence must end. Fairness matters. Women matter.
To be absolutely clear this is not an attack on the LGBTQ+ community. Many members of that community feel exactly the same way. The rights of one group should never require stripping away the rights of another. That is not progress that is not equality.
I have worked alongside transgender individuals throughout my life and have always treated them with dignity and respect. But respect must flow in both directions. A man claiming a championship title that belongs to a woman is not a civil rights victory. It is a setback for fairness. Compassion cannot mean asking girls to surrender their privacy, their dignity, and their safety out of social pressure.
```The Campaign
A Different Kind of Democrat
This campaign is about bringing balance back to the Democratic Party. I am not running to represent party leadership. I am running to represent the people of this district.
```Independent ThinkingNot party line politics. I will say what others won't and tackle the issues others avoid.
Focused on ResultsNot ideology, not slogans. What works for real people in the real world.
Not Owned by CorporationsI will always look out for the interests of the people not mega-corporations or their PACs.
Telling the TruthEven when it's uncomfortable. Especially then. That's what real leadership looks like.
If you believe in practical solutions, real accountability, and leadership that puts people first I invite you to be part of this campaign. Together, we can bring genuine change to Washington's 1st District and to the nation.
