Many restaurants and other businesses will see a big boost in traffic and make a lot of money. It is doubtful that businesses in Chinatown will see any benefits from it. Just like in all past big events that came to Seattle. If elected Kincaid will formally request federal investigations into the City of Seattle and King County over their treatment of the Chinatown International District. This is not a symbolic gesture. It is a specific set of requests to specific federal agencies with specific statutory authority. The Record Speaks for Itself By 2022  there were 15 homeless shelters within one mile of the CID. That same year  King County expanded a 270 bed shelter bordering the neighborhood into a 419 bed services hub. On...

The historic neighborhoods of Chinatown, Japantown and Little Saigon in Seattle's International District are not part of Washington's 1st Congressional District. They belong to District 7. But the Asian American communities in Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Bothell and across WA-01 are very much part of this campaign  and what happens in Seattle's Asian neighborhoods matters deeply to them  and to all of us. Let's Save Olympus Spa I was genuinely shocked when I learned what happened to Olympus Spa in Lynnwood. I kept asking myself. How? Why? How is something like this even possible in America? At first  I assumed this would never hold up in court. I thought there was no way the people of Washington had voted for this. And I was right they didn't. The voters never decided this. The state legislature did. They passed a law declaring that a biological male including one with male genitalia could be legally recognized as a woman by the state. And when Olympus Spa a women only business where patrons are nude declined entry to a biological male who identified as a woman. That person filed a complaint with the Washington State Human Rights Commission. The Commission initiated an enforcement action against the spa. Threatening prosecution unless it changed its women only policy. It did not matter that female customers were deeply uncomfortable being unclothed around biological male...
