Kincaid for Congress – Washington’s 1st District

I am running for Congress in Washington's 9th District in 2028. This year I ran in the 1st District. I did not make the top two. Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I am still working through the results. They were not what I expected. So what happened? Local news barely covered the 1st District race before the primary. Other races got real reporting. The 3rd District got a lot of it. Voters there had information to work with. Voters in the 1st District did not. The Seattle Times endorsed Suzan DelBene. An endorsement is not reporting. The Herald did the kind of reporting voters need. Not everyone in the 1st District reads the Herald. Light coverage helps incumbents. Suzan DelBene has held this seat since 2012. Kincaid believes socialism is the wrong direction for the Democratic Party and for America. He says so plainly because too few Democrats will. The facts are public. A CNN poll released July 30 found about a third of Democrats and Democratic leaning adults now identify as democratic socialists. The Democratic Socialists of America reports its membership more than doubled since 2024. Democratic socialist candidates defeated sitting Democratic incumbents in primaries this cycle. This is a movement inside the party  not a fringe. The organization's published program speaks for itself. The DSA platform calls for defunding police as a step toward abolishing police and prisons. The platform calls for abolishing ICE and ending deportations. The platform calls for ending all American military and economic aid to Israel. This week veteran Democratic strategist James Carville said out loud what a lot of voters have been thinking. Talking about the New York primary results. On his podcast he said. He could no longer stay in a coalition with the party's newest far left wing. Talking about Darializa Avila Chevalier . "She has attacked interracial relationships and the American flag. Lady, I ain't in the same party as you. I'm sorry," Carville said, before adding that it may be time for Democrats to talk about "the S-word. Schism." He put it another way, too. Kincaid for Congress -- Statement on the Chinatown International District In May  this campaign published a warning: "Everyone is excited about the FIFA World Cup coming to Seattle. Many restaurants and other businesses will see a big boost in traffic and make a lot of money. It is doubtful that businesses in Chinatown will see any benefits from it. Just like in all past big events that came to Seattle." Months later the World Cup is here. And the prediction did not just come true. It came true on the record, press, and in the community's own words. What Actually Happened Seattle is celebrating a record breaking tournament. More than 750,000 visits to official fan celebration sites. Pioneer Square posted its highest single day foot traffic since records began in 2019. With some businesses reporting sales up to ten times a typical day. Bars near the stadium had the busiest days their staff had ever worked. Blocks away in the Chinatown International District. ...

A year ago I called Olympus Spa the hill I was willing to die on. I wrote about a Korean owned women's spa in Lynnwood. Forced by the state to let biological males into a nude, women only space. I also mentioned almost in passing.  A lawsuit by a former inmate named Mozzy Clark who alleged she was repeatedly sexually assaulted. By a male inmate housed at the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW) after he told the state he identified as a woman. That was not a passing detail. It was a preview. On April 27, 2026 the America First Policy Institute filed a federal lawsuit.  Against the Washington Department of Corrections and Secretary Tim Lang. 0n behalf of Fair for All, Inc. and a 28 year old WCCW inmate named Faith Booher-Smith. The complaint alleges that on August 7, 2025  Booher-Smith was attacked from behind in the prison cafeteria by Christopher Williams. A six foot four male inmate convicted of a child sex offense. The Problem Every few weeks another story breaks. A teacher or coach with a documented history of inappropriate conduct toward a student. Hired by a new school or college that never knew. Sometimes the warning signs were in a personnel file the new employer never asked for. Sometimes an investigation was underway and the employee simply resigned before it finished. Leaving no formal finding for anyone to disclose. Sometimes the law on the books simply did not require anyone to check. This is not a hypothetical. It happened in our own district. Shoreline Community College hired a former Henry M. Jackson High School physics teacher. Who had resigned from Everett Public Schools. While under investigation for a years long inappropriate relationship with a student. Shoreline never called the high school. State law did not require it to. Washington's 2020 disclosure law. The first of its kind in the nation. Required colleges to check with other colleges. Not with K-12 districts.  ...

The June 17 Iran Deal Will Not Hold On June 17 the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran signed a 14 point memorandum of understanding to end the war that began on February 28. The White House is presenting it as a diplomatic achievement. I hope I am wrong but I do not believe this deal will hold. Here is why. What I Wrote in April In April I published Kincaid's Plan for a Free Iran . In that post I made two observations. First that Trump's claim that regime change had already occurred was not accurate. Second that Trump did not appear to have a real plan.  That he was making decisions day by day and continually shifting objectives. Both observations have held up. In March the President told reporters that America had achieved regime change in Iran. Because the leaders were all different.
